Astral Dreams Project is the brainchild of Jack Davies and Mina Arcana to promote Italian art through Second Life®.
The variety of Italian artists present in the ancient virtual world of Linden is incredible. No surprise if, as Italians, we are an expression of creativity and sensitivity, our tradition shows that art is familiar to us.
Astral Dreams Project is realized in collaboration with Linden Lab, which offered LEA 1 to host this event, where our artistic originality finds its temporary home (LEA 1 will be devoted to this project for 3 months).
Also, the creators Dogma9 and AcquaAria are collaborating on the project, creating the evocative setting characterized by the Spanish Steps, the Trinità dei Monti, and the Barcaccia. The environment itself is already, in itself, one of the central works of art on display, for its fidelity to the original and its manipulative and stylistic ability.
Finally, I collaborate on this project as an art curator, having chosen the exhibiting artists.
On the sides of the central staircase, to the left and right respectively, we find the “twin rooms” that house Ciottolina Xue and Mistero Hifeng.
Ciottolina Xue, with her sculpture markedly expressive of the artist’s state of mind, gives life to works, each of which tells its own story.
Mystery Hifeng, with his very clearly delineated style, is the artist of the disintegration of the Ego, of the superstructure, which points to the Essence.
Along Via Condotti, many artists, for each of whom there is a dedicated store, share their creativity that is expressed in very different forms.
Here is a short presentation of each of them.
Paola Mills presents her own conceptual photography, i.e., using the objects of the virtual world. She gives origin to images that transmit a message, an exact idea.
Lorys Lane photographs the environments she visits, giving the images a touch of personality that allows us to visit those locations through her eyes.
Renoir Adder is an extraordinarily creative and versatile oil painter. He imports into SL the paintings that he realizes in reality. His style is also unique for the cheerfulness of the colors he chooses with care.
Desy Falcone is a sweet photographer. Her images range from fantasy to conceptual, she is very versatile.
Maddy likes to combine SL photographs with shapes and colors, creating a unique style. She is a very communicative and original artist.
Clarisa Congrejo has exhibited her best and most recent black and white images. A photographer for many years, she has opened a successful shop selling poses for photographers… In my opinion, Clary brings into SL photographic techniques well known in reality.
Candie Sheel but make portraits, but she does so in a particular way. In fact, since she does not like the inexpressiveness typical of the avatar, even starting from an image taken in the virtual world, she manipulates it until she almost raises a doubt: real or virtual?
Degoya Galthie creates fractal art, giving life to relaxing shapes and movements with a pleasant effect.
Jarla Capalini has been an artist for several years, effectively transforming photography into art, making it similar to real paintings. His experience with painters is very clearly visible in his style.
Finally, among the exhibiting artists, there are also me with my drawings made on tablet and manipulated with Photoshop.
Shortly before the start of the installation of Astral Dreams Project, I had the pleasure to make a short interview with Jack Davies and Mina Arcana, to better explore how the idea of promoting Italian art was born.

Astral Dreams Project: l’arte italiana ospitata dalla suggestiva Piazza di Spagna
Astral Dreams Project nasce da un’idea di Jack Davies e Mina Arcana allo scopo di promuovere l’arte italiana che si esprime attraverso Second Life®.
La varietà di artisti italiani presenti nell’antico mondo virtuale della Linden è incredibile. Nessuna sorpresa se, noi italiani, siamo espressione di creatività e sensibilità, la nostra tradizione dimostra che l’arte ci è familiare.
Astral Dreams Project è realizzato in collaborazione con Linden Lab, che ha offerto LEA 1 per ospitare questo evento, dove nostra originalità artistica trova la sua temporanea dimora (LEA 1 sarà destinata a questo progetto per 3 mesi).
Inoltre, collaborano al progetto i creatori Dogma9 e AcquaAria, che hanno dato vita alla suggestiva ambientazione caratterizzata da Piazza di Spagna, Trinità dei Monti e la Barcaccia. L’ambientazione stessa è già, di per sé, una delle principali opere d’arte esposte, per la fedeltà all’originale e l’abilità manipolativa e stilistica.
Infine, io stessa collaboro a questo progetto in qualità di curatore artistico, avendo scelto gli artisti espositori.
Ai lati della scalinata principale, rispettivamente a sinistra e a destra, troviamo le “stanze gemelle” che ospitano Ciottolina Xue e Mistero Hifeng.
Ciottolina Xue, con la sua scultura marcatamente espressiva dello stato d’animo dell’artista stessa, dà vita a opere ognuna delle quali racconta la sua storia.
Mistero Hifeng, con il suo stile molto ben delineato, è l’artista della disgrezione dell’Ego, della sovrastruttura, che punta all’Essenza.
Lungo Via Condotti numerosi artisti, per ciascuno dei quali vi è uno store dedicato, condividono la propria creatività che si esprime in forme anche molto differenti tra loro.
Ecco una breve presentazione di ognuno di loro.
Paola Mills presenta la propria fotografia concettuale, ovvero sfruttando gli oggetti del mondo virtuale dà orgine a immagini che trasmettono un messaggio, un’idea ben precisa.
Lorys Lane fotografa gli ambienti che visita, dando alle immagini un tocco di personalità che ci permette di visitare quelle locations attraverso i suoi occhi.
Renoir Adder è un pittore ad olio estremamente creativo e versatile. Egli importa in SL i quadri che lui stesso realizza nella realtà. Il suo stile è unico anche per l’allegria dei colori che egli sceglie con cura.
Desy Falcone è una dolcissima fotografa esseliana. Le sue immagini spaziano dallo stile fantasy a quello concettuale, essendo lei molto versatile.
Maddy ama combinare le fotografie di SL con forme e colori, dando vita a uno stile unico nel suo genere. E’ un’artista molto comunicativa e orginale.
Clarisa Congrejo ha esposto le sue migliori e più recenti immagini in bianco e nero. Fotografa da molti anni, ha aperto un negozio di successo che vende pose per fotografi.. A mio avviso Clary porta in SL tecniche fotografiche ben note nella realtà.
Candie Sheel ma realizzare ritratti, ma lo fa in un modo mlo particolare. Infatti, dato che lei non ama l’inespressività tipica dell’avatar, pur partendo da un’immagine scattata nel mondo virtuale, la manipola fino a quasi far sorgere un dubbio: reale o virtuale?
Degoya Galthie realizza arte frattalica, dando vita a forme e movimenti rilassanti e di piacevole effetto.
Jarla Capalini è un’artista da diversi anni che trasforma efficacemente la fotografia in arte, rendendola simili ai quadri reali. La sua esperienza presso pittori è molto ben visibile nel suo stile.
Infine, tra gli artisti espositori, ci sono anche io con i miei disegni realizzati su tavoletta grafica e manipolati con Photoshop.
Poco prima dell’inizio dell’allestimento di Astral Dreams Project, ho avuto il piacere di realizzare una breve intervista a Jack Davies e Mina Arcana, per esplorare meglio come l’idea di promuovere l’arte italiana sia nata.
