Bryn Oh, an undisputed artist in Second Life, has opened to the public a new art installation entitled ‘Aural‘ in collaboration with Morlita Quan.
The installation is housed in a 5k prims homestead and is characterized by the importance the artists attached to sound. This prominence can be seen in the title itself, “Aural“.
Bryn Oh no needs an introduction. He is a Canadian artist who has been characterized by large-scale art installations that have been recognized not only by Linden Lab but also by renowned universities.
Bry Oh’s blog is an important reference point for exploring the artistic journey of this Canadian artist.
Morlita Quan also has her own blog where you can see her artwork and musical works to explore her creativity over the last few years.
As for the latest installation, “Aural”, the video made by the same Canadian artist and uploaded to his YouTube channel is interesting.
During my visit to the installation created in collaboration with Morlita Quan, I was able to appreciate the creativity of the two Second Life artists through the combination of the three-dimensionality created by Bryn Oh and the sounds elaborated by Morlita Quan. This collaboration resulted in an art installation with a strong communicative and visual impact. Like any installation, it is up to the visitor to give it the meaning that best suits him or her. First of all, from a technical point of view, it is important to remember that the light settings of the Region must be accepted in order to obtain the best possible experience. It is extremely important to have the light and shadow settings active, as shown in the following image created using the Firestorm Viewer.
This importance is dictated by the fact that there are certain refractions, projections that are only visible through the combination of light and shadow settings as well as windlight chosen specifically by the artist for the Region. Another extremely important aspect is the fact that multimedia is active. In fact, there are some aspects of the installation that would escape your attention if you did not have media enabled. Obviously, it is mandatory to have the sounds active, in order to enjoy Morlita Quan’s creativity in the realization of this installation in its aural part.
I, too, had the pleasure of making a video on the occasion of visiting this wonderful art installation, which I present to you in this blog post. I recommend that you visit the installation in person because the movement of the avatar makes changes in the light settings that cannot be perceived through the simple movement of the camera. That’s why I advise you to walk along the easily perceived path because only with the passage of the avatar the light settings in that specific area are changed. So do not simply move the camera to look around, but walk along with the installation.
I believe that “Aural” is an excellent art installation in Second Life, which consecrates, once again, the strong presence of Artists in the virtual world of Linden Lab.

Bryn Oh, artista incontrastato nel settore di Second Life, ha aperto al pubblico una nuova installazione artistica dal titolo “Aural” in collaborazione con Morlita Quan.
Si tratta di un’installazione ospitata da una homestead da 5k prims che si caratterizza per l’importanza che gli artisti attribuiscono ai suoni. Questa preminenza la si evince dal titolo medesimo, “Aural”, che in italiano potrebbe essere tradotto con “auditivo”.
Bryn Oh non ha bisogno di grandi presentazioni, si tratta di un artista canadese che si è caratterizzato per importanti installazioni artistiche di vaste dimensioni che hanno avuto il riconoscimento non soltanto di Linden Lab, ma anche di illustri università.
Il blog di Bry Oh è un punto di riferimento importante per esplorare il percorso artistico di questo artista canadese.
Anche con Morlita Quan ha un suo blog dove è possibile vedere i suoi lavori artistici e i suoi lavori musicali per esplorare la sua creatività nel corso degli ultimi anni.
Per quanto attiene l’ultima installazione, “Aural”, è interessante il video realizzato da parte del medesimo artista canadese e caricato sul suo canale YouTube.
In occasione della mia visita all’installazione realizzata in collaborazione con Morlita Quan, ho avuto modo di apprezzare la creatività dei due artisti attraverso l’unione della tridimensionalità realizzata da Bryn Oh e i suoni elaborati da Morlita Quan. Questa collaborazione ha dato vita a una installazione artistica dalla forte comunicatività e impatto visivo. Come ogni installazione, è il visitatore ad attribuirgli il significato che più gli appartiene. Vi sono però alcune considerazioni che credo siano importanti: innanzitutto, da un punto di vista tecnico, è importante ricordare che occorre accettare le impostazioni di luce della Regione al fine di ottenere la migliore esperienza possibile. E’ estremamente importante avere attive le impostazioni di luci e ombre, come da immagine seguente realizzata utilizzando il Viewer Firestorm.
Questa importanza è dettata dal fatto che vi sono alcune rifrazioni, proiezioni che sono visibili soltanto attraverso la combinazione di impostazioni di luci e ombre nonché di windlight scelta appositamente dall’artista per la Regione. Inoltre, un altro aspetto estremamente importante, è il fatto di avere attivi i multimedia. Vi sono Infatti alcuni aspetti dell’installazione che sfuggirebbero alla tua attenzione se non hai attivato i media. Ovviamente è obbligatorio avere attivi i suoni, per poter godere della creatività di Morlita Quan nella realizzazione di questa installazione nella sua parte auditiva.
Anche io, in occasione della visita a questa splendida installazione artistica, ho avuto il piacere di realizzare un video che ti presento in questo blog post. Ti consiglio di visitare di persona l’installazione in quanto, il movimento dell’avatar realizza delle modifiche nelle impostazioni di luce che non si possono percepire attraverso il semplice movimento della Camera. Ecco perché ti consiglio di camminare lungo il percorso facilmente intuibile in quanto soltanto con il passaggio dell’avatar si modificano le impostazioni di luce in quella specifica area. Quindi non muovere semplicemente la camera per guardarti attorno, ma percorri l’installazione muovendoti a piedi.
Ritengo che “Aural” sia una installazione artistica di eccellenza nell’ambito di Second Life, che consacra, ancora una volta, la forte presenza degli Artisti nel mondo virtuale di Linden Lab.
