There is a huge section of artistic minds in Second Life that love and admire art.
Art is in essence an expression of emotion and feelings and is not always easy to write down, but visiting an art exhibition helps artists to show the hidden essence and emotion, and art exhibitions give us a room to discuss, allowing inspirations to grow endlessly.

The person in charge of a gallery is the curator and everything depends on how good he is working inside. Curators greatly influence the art we see in galleries as well as the artist they present.
At Dixmix Gallery, the “place to be“, the person in charge is the curator Dixmix Source.

Dixmix is from Brussels — Belgium and 14 years old in Second Life.
He is guiding photographers to the “theme“ with empathy, intuition, and intelligence, always giving everyone around him room to grow with the purpose of showing the artists’ work and transmitting their feelings in the best possible way to the audience.
Strongly goal-oriented, Dixmix provides governance to a vision and mission guiding art presentation and artist to a meaningful purpose, yet always motivating inspiring and encouraging artists to take new chances.

Dixmix works as a visionary with plenty of ideas but is also committed to carrying them out, optimistic and fearless, always choosing quality, holding himself, and those around him to the highest standard.

Dixmix holds the value of always listening, being open, and listening to opinions of others,  always moving forward, increasing and growing, looking to do more, and making a difference.

For me, he is a genuine, humble person who is using wisdom to give insight and inspiration to others, always authentic, reliable, and competent.

He always has faith in the artist he chooses and is dedicated to something bigger than himself. His commitment is to help artists and be their partners by giving voice to artists!

Six months ago Dixmix convinced his friend and builder Megan Prumier to build a brand-new Gallery. Everything started with a drawing, became a 3D model, and step by step, prim after prim, all have been thought and built to show pictures in the best way and make visitors catch that important feeling.

The new gallery has the same surface as the old one, but it looks bigger because the space is used differently.
On the lower floor are three Photography Gallery Rooms dedicated to three very important friends of Dixmix Source: Amona, Abby, and Amalfia (R.I.P.).

In the middle of the Room is a huge area for Saturday Parties and the best Second Life DJs, wonderfully created and truly classy decorated, with an open view on all three galleries and the upper floor.

The “La Mezzanine“ Chill out room is on the upper floor, as well as two other galleries, one for Megan and one for Dixmix as a workshop.

Different spaces, different moods but all created in the same style. The gallery is decorated with exquisite taste for colors and textures and breathtaking sculptures and art objects.

3D Installations find a way into the “Womb“, which is easy to visit using teleport.

The “place to be” gallery will open its doors for everyone on September 19, 2020, at 12 PM SLT.

Presenting Artist Notation

Thoughts on DixMix Gallery of Cecilia Nansen

It is with great honor, I present my 3rd exhibit in the Dixmix Gallery.
I am equally proud, to be allowed alongside two great women, to open this fine new building.
This time my pictures come from a very private part of me.
I think they speak more or less for themselves, without further explanation.
Thank you, Dix and Megan, for all this!

Thoughts on DixMix Gallery of Maloe Vansant

Dix and I go a long way back here in SL, we have a mutual love for art and mutual respect for each other.
I had the honor to expose my images in his first Gallery in SL and now I have the honor to expose them in his virgin new gallery,
Wow, and what a gallery he and Megan made, jaw-droppingly gorgeous, and this  I will do in the company of two great women and artist, Cecilia and Edie, it will be girl power.
What to tell about my images ….

I let the visitor make his own story about them, for me, they thrive on my emotions and feelings of that moment.

Thank you, Dix,  for years of support and friendship.

Thoughts on DixMix Gallery of Edie Horngold

Three seasons ago, I presented my first exhibit at DixMix Gallery. Before this, I never had a show of my work.
Based on a photo he had seen, Dix was inspired to take a chance on me, an unknown, and invited me to exhibit at the gallery.
In honesty, we took a chance on each other. Dix made it “safe’ for me to try something I had never done before.
He took my fears, uncertainties, and an absolute lack of confidence and nudged me with respect and patience.
Never once did I feel embarrassed to show an idea in progress to get his opinion on. That’s huge because whether we say so or not, this process feels very personal and creates vulnerability.

And that’s when I named him Daddy Dix (insert a laugh here). I felt like that kid running home from school, with a picture in hand, saying, “Look what I made today.”

All kidding aside, here we are three seasons later, and still at it. I know I could not have done this if it wasn’t for working with him.

Congrats on the new gallery!
